The Welder lays out and fabricates metal weldments and assemblies. He executes the requirements of the work orders and processes material accordingly. He must be familiar with structural brake forming, welding, and other structural fabrication processes. He will use drawings, specs, and/or verbal instructions as well as exercising judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals. Based on instructions/information given, he will make fabricated products using hand tools, machine tools, and welding equipment, as well as working with other departments. He should have the ability to check his own work. He must meet deadlines and document progress. He must be flexible, dependable, time conscious, and be able to move from project to project with minimal supervision. He must work closely with the shop management.
Essential Functions
The Welder’s responsibilities will include the following:
- The ability to weld using MIG, TIG, stick, or other welding processes.
- The ability to perform structural fir up using a brake press and other means.
- The ability to use appropriate measuring instruments to the task.
- The ability to operate hand tools.
- The ability to operate a variety of machines in the factory.
- The ability to interface with other departments to accomplish tasks.
- The ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- The ability and maturity to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Maintain a clean work area as required.
- Working ability to apply all applicable safety requirements to comply with regulatory agencies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct supervisory responsibilities, but must be able to conduct his/her day-to-day duties in a highly professional manner.

| Qualifications: |
The qualified candidate must possess as a minimum:
"A" Welder:
- Same as “B” Welder with these added skills
- Minimum 10 years welding/layout experience.
- Fabricator skills to include complicated layouts, shrinkage calculations, check & straighten capability, and should be able to direct a project.
- Must be able to instruct for proof loading.
- Must be able to understand and interpret complicated aerospace blueprints including GD&T.
"B" Welder:
- Same as “C” Welder with these added skills
- Minimum 5 years welding/layout experience.
- Fabricator skills to include complicated layouts, shrinkage calculations, check & straighten capability.
- Weld skills must include GYAW (Aluminum CRES, mild steel).
- Should be able to use precision measurement equipment to inspect his own work.
- Must be able to rig and move heavy structures.
- Proof loading with instructions.
- Must be able to understand and interpret complicated aerospace blueprints and drawings.
- Advanced math skills including geometry and some trigonometry.
"C" Welder:
- Entry level welder with 3 years welding/layout experience (GMAW, SMAW, FCAW).
- Basic blueprint reading skills and welding symbols.
- Basic math skills.
- Should be able to inspect his own work.
- Must own own tools appropriate to the job being performed.
- Ability to use appropriate tools and equipment related to the task (plasma, oxy-fuel, saws, mag drills, etc).
