| Description: |
The Jig & Fixture Builder will be responsible taking drawings, blueprints, or verbal instructions and building tooling assemblies, fabrications, and test equipment as directed by the shop management. He will be required to use various types of fabrication equipment, conventional machine tools, precision measurement tools, and various hand tools to accomplish his task. He must have good math skills (trigonometry) to calculate dimensions. He is also able to use optical equipment, do model building, and masters, flat pattern layout and template making. He must know assembly, bonding, composite materials, riveting, and other processes associated with tool shop jobs. He must be able to interpret complicated aerospace drawings and specifications. He must be detail oriented, and a self-starter who can work with minimum supervision. As part of a larger team, he must communicate effectively with inter-shop personnel. He will use drawings, specs, and/or verbal instructions as well as exercising judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals. Based on instructions/information given, he will meet the requirements of his job. He must meet deadlines and document progress. He must be flexible, dependable, time conscious, and be able to move from project to project with minimal supervision. He must work closely with the shop management.
Essential Functions
The Jig & Fixture Builder’s responsibilities will include the following:
- The ability to interpret complicated aerospace drawings and specifications.
- The ability to use various types of fabrication equipment, conventional machine tools, precision measurement tools, and various hand tools.
- The understanding of assembly, bonding, riveting, and other processes associated with tool shop jobs.
- The ability to interface with other departments to accomplish tasks.
- The ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- The ability and maturity to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Maintain a clean work area daily as required.
- Working ability to apply all applicable safety requirements to comply with regulatory agencies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct supervisory responsibilities, but must be able to conduct his/her day-to-day duties in a highly professional manner.

| Qualifications: |
The qualified candidate must possess as a minimum:
“A” Jig & Fixture Builder
- Advanced math skills (Algebra, Trigonometry, GD&T Math)
- Advanced skills in methods for use and training of hand tools
- Journeyman skills related to machining, turning, grinding, etc.
- Advanced blueprint reading – interpretation and application of drawing tolerances (including GD&T), general notes, and specifications.
- Advanced measurement & test equipment ability – micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gages, pin/plug gages, thread gages, optical equipment, gram scales, etc.
- Advanced computer skills
“B” Jig & Fixture Builder
- Advanced math skills (Algebra, Trigonometry)
- Understands drill bars/bushings, surface benching, smoothing, etc.
- Set up and operate band saws, milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, hoist/crane equipment, etc.
- Blueprint reading – interpretation and application of drawings and specifications
- Measurement & test equipment ability – micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gages, pin/plug gages, thread gages, optical equipment, gram scales, etc.
- Intermediate computer skills
“C” Jig & Fixture Builder (Apprentice/Helper)
- General math skills (fractions, decimals, basic trigonometry)
- Knowledge in use of hand tools (drill motors, grinders, basic measurement Instruments, etc.)
- Understanding of drill, presses, band saws, milling machines, lathes, etc)
- Basic mechanical ability
- Basic computer skills
