5 Axis "A" Machinist with FIDIA Experience

| Description: |
The machinist sets up and operates a machine. The machinist will be familiar with standard machining concepts, practices and procedures including Manual Data Input (MDI) and DNC. The machinist will work from travelers, blueprints, set up sheets, drawings and/or verbal instructions as well as limited judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals. Based on instructions/information given, the machinist will machine a variety of large and small parts using lathes, mills and other critical tools. The machinist must meet deadlines and document progress. The machinist will perform a variety of tasks, possibly including some conventional machining. Will work with aluminum, sheet metal, steel, CRES, and other exotic metals. The machinist must be flexible, dependable, time conscious, and be able to move from project to project with minimal supervision. Must work closely with the CNC Programmer.
Essential Functions
The Machinist’s responsibilities will include the following:
- The ability to operate hand tools
- The ability to use a variety of machines in accordance with blueprint requirements
- Conformance to be determined by the employee’s supervisor
- Able to use appropriate measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, plug gages, etc.
- The ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing
- Providing customer service when required
- The ability and maturity to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Maintain a clean work area daily as required
- Move parts to next operation upon completion
- Working ability to apply all applicable safety requirements to comply with regulatory agencies
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct supervisory responsibilities, but must be able to conduct his/her day-to-day duties in a highly professional manner.

| Qualifications: |
The qualified candidate must possess as a minimum:
"A" Machinist:
- Must be able to read blueprints
- Minimum ten years machinist experience (or equivalent knowledge)
- Advanced blueprint reading and specification interpretation skills with thorough understanding of GD&T
- Ability to troubleshoot and edit programs
- Must be able to operate all types of machining centers (vertical, horizontal, conventional)
- Must have a good understanding of material properties, so that they can calculate appropriate speeds and feeds for the material being processed
- Advanced math, geometry, and trigonometry
- Basic ability to navigate through CAD geometry
- Must own tools appropriate to the job being performed
- 5 Axis Experience a MUST
- Knowledge of FIDIA
"B" Machinist:
- Same as “C” Machinist with these added skills
- Minimum five years machinist experience (or equivalent knowledge)
- Advanced blueprint reading and specification interpretation
- Ability to perform intermediate MDI functions at the CNC machine
- Must be able to perform light editing of programs at the machine
- Advanced math and geometry understanding
- Ability to set-up and follow written instructions from a programmer’s set-up sheet
- Must own tools appropriate to the job being performed
"C" Machinist:
- Entry level machinist (minimum 1 year OTJ experience or trade school certificate)
- Basic blueprint reading ability
- Basic math skills
- Must own tools appropriate to the job boing performed
- Basic ability to use precision measurement instruments
- Ability to run conventional or CNC mills, lathes, and use hand tools
